Things to Do in Byron MN in June 2026
June is one of the best months to be in Byron, Minnesota. Warm weather, longer days, and a packed calendar of local events make it easy to get out and enjoy the community. From the return of the weekly Farmers Market to a world-class summer festival just 10 miles east in Rochester, there is no shortage of things to do. Here is your complete guide — organized by date — to June 2026 in Byron and the surrounding area.
Early June — June 1–12
Right here in Byron, Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo is one of the best free family outings in all of Olmsted County. The zoo is home to more than 30 species of Minnesota native animals — including river otters, bison, black bears, bald eagles, and timber wolves — living in naturalistic habitats. Many of the animals are rescues that cannot survive in the wild, giving visitors a rare close-up look at wildlife they would never see otherwise.
This summer, the zoo is also hosting “We Are Water MN,” a traveling exhibit making its very first zoo host appearance at Zollman Zoo. The exhibit explores Minnesota’s deep relationship with water alongside the animals that depend on it. The park grounds are open daily from 5 AM to 10 PM — perfect for a morning walk, a picnic, or an afternoon hike along the Root River.
